The Governments want uniformity regarding every purpose of electricity and for the same, the Central Govt. passed Electricity Act to consolidate the laws relating to generation, transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity and generally for taking measures conducive to development of electricity industry, promoting competition therein, protecting interest of consumers and supply of electricity to all areas, rationalization of electricity tariff, ensuring transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies, constitution of Central Electricity Authority, Regulatory Commissions and establishment of Appellate Tribunal and for matters connected therewith or incidental there to purpose. The Central Govt. State Govt. and Electricity Board have passed Rules, Regulations and Circulars to achieve purpose and set standards in power section.

The disputes fall in many categories and it is difficult to describe here all type of disputes but then also two categories of dispute are; disputes regarding domestic consumers and commercial consumer’s disputes,.
